Tele-Ophthalmology Project, in association with National Programme for Control of Blindness, (NPCB), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

India Space Research Organization (ISRO), has donated free satellite equipments and free bandwidth to connect our base hospital with the mobile laser unit

Projects with International Non Government Organisations

JM Charitable Trust is also working in partnership with World Diabetes Foundation (WDF) for Diabetic Retinopathy Integrated Project (DRIP) a project initiated by Bejan Singh Eye Hospital in Kanyakumari District

In Kerala it is working in partnership with Lions clubs International, for the Sight First programme covering 4 southern districts of Kerala and also for Sight for Kids Programme.

For the first time in Kanyakumari District a Comprehensive Eye Health (CEH) called Child Rural Integrated Sight Project (CRISP) an exclusive project for children's eye health is initiated with the financial support from Sight Savers International, Royal Common Wealth Society for the Blind.

International Eye Foundation (IEF), Washington, USA, and JMCT have jointly opened six vision centres in Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli and Tuticorin Districts.

Rural Integrated Cataract Eradication Programme (RICE)

J.M. Charitable Trust, is accredited by the District Blindness Control Society (DBCS) in 1997 for doing free cataract surgeries in Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli and Tuticorin Districts. The District Collector is the Chairman of the DBCS concerned. Cataract, being the major cause for avoidable blindness, importance was given to its management under the RICE project.


Tele Ophthalmology Project

Teleophthalmology Project (TULIP) is launched by J.M.Charitable Trust in association with NPCB to fill the gaps in the eye care services in the Kanyakumari district. It is an innovative because it uses mobile eye clinic fitted with all specialised diagnosis equipments visits all the tribal areas, hilly terrains, vision centres, villages, small towns of Kanyakumari District and also southern parts of Tirunelveli District, Tuticorin District and connects the base hospital via VSAT connectivity to enhance the quality and efficiency of diagnosis, treatment, and patient care at the community level.

Diabetic Retinopathy Integrated Project

J.M. Charitable Trust, in collaboration with World Diabetes Foundation (WDF) initiated the Diabetic Retinopathy Integrated Programme (DRIP) project in Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu in India. The aim of the project is to improve prevention and management of diabetes related problems of the eye in Kanyakumari District.
